2025 CFJJB French National Championship: Showcasing the Elite of French Jiu-Jitsu

This year’s edition brought together 1,550 athletes, all competing in the gi, from juvenile (16-17 years old) to adult and master black belts. Reserved exclusively for French citizens and residents — all members of CFJJBCFJJB-affiliated clubs — this championship reflects a level of organizational and athletic excellence on par with international standards. While many Jiu-Jitsu events worldwide are open-entry, the CFJJB Nationals stand out with a selective structure: no white belts, no nogi divisions, and no kids — each category now has its own dedicated national championship. In 2025, when combining all CFJJB national events (Novice, Kids, Nogi, and Gi blue to black belt), over 5,300 competitors have participated, providing a clearer sports progression and elevating the prestige of each championship.

From Colored Belts to Black Belts: World-Class Performances

The level of skill and intensity on the mats was exceptional, especially in the adult divisions, featuring many athletes with international IBJJF recognition.

  • Blue Belt: Alexandre Kron (BLR) — double gold (weight and absolute), fresh off an IBJJF World silver medal.
  • Purple Belt: Freddy Lele Tala (MK Team) — added to his season after winning IBJJF Brasileiro.
  • Brown Belt: Henrique Soares (Jiu-Jitsu Pic Saint Loup) — six matches, six submissions.
  • Black Belt: Seif Eddine Houmine, 2024 IBJJF World Champion — absolute division winner.

Women’s Divisions:

    • Blue Belt: Maeva Aiachi (Team CTG) — absolute champion.
    • Purple Belt: Anna Wodicka (GF Team France) — gold medalist.
    • Brown Belt: Lina Grosset (Team CTG) — absolute champion, promoted to black belt on the podium.
    • Black Belt: Stéphanie Faure — European and World medalist, dominant in her division and the absolute.

Masters Division Still Going Strong

The Masters divisions were packed with talent, strategy, and intensity. Notable champions include:

  • Master 1/2: Gérald Pietrosemoli
  • Master 3/4: Zakaria Arhab
  • Master 5+: Romaric Guillaume

Livestream and World-Class Refereeing

Six of the ten mats were broadcast live on YouTube, allowing family and teammates to follow the action in real time — showcasing the federation’s commitment to visibility and transparency.

Equally crucial was the top-level refereeing. To prepare athletes for the standards of IBJJF Worlds, Europeans, and other major events, CFJJB brought in 12 internationally certified referees, including officials from Brazil and the United States — many fresh off duty at the IBJJF World Championships in Long Beach.

Led by Vincent Nguyen, Head of Referees, along with Kenji Sette and Reda Hamzaoui, the event upheld an elite standard of fairness and precision.

The Backbone Behind the Scenes

Behind every great event is a great team. The smooth operation of the championship was thanks to the tireless work of central table managers, who oversaw calls, schedules, staff coordination, and athlete flow in real time.

This critical work was led by Viviana Menegazzo, Stéphane Spataro, and Pascal Volpe — their professionalism deserves special recognition.

A Collective Effort Driving the Sport Forward

The 2025 CFJJB French National Championship once again underscores the momentum of French Jiu-Jitsu. With exceptional organization, world-class athletic performances, and elite officiating, CFJJB is building a strong foundation for the sport’s future in France.

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this championship possible: the volunteers, the coaches, the club leaders… Your dedication, loyalty, and trust in the vision we’ve been building together for years are the driving force behind the growth of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in France.

This championship is both a collective achievement and a step forward. We’ve laid down strong foundations, and now more than ever, our discipline is on the path to becoming a major sport in France. Thank you all for being part of this journey.”

David Giorsetti, CFJJB President
